The disappearance of British backpacker Peter Falconio, who was ambushed in the Australian outback in 2001, made headlines around the world.

His girlfriend Joanne Lees escaped and Bradley Murdoch was found guilty of his murder in 2005, but he never revealed the location of Mr Falconio’s remains.

Murdoch has now died, and always denied any involvement in the incident, as the BBC’s Phil Mercer explains.
