The Purdue Boilermakers will face the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in a Big Ten-ACC showdown on Saturday in a Week 2 college football matchup on FS1.

Purdue opened the season 1-0 with a Week 1 win over Indiana State. Transfer running back Fame Ijeboi made an immediate impact, earning the highest PFF rushing grade (97.3) and offensive grade (96.1) among running backs in Week 1. Ijeboi finished with 87 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.

Returning quarterback Ryan Browne also had a strong start to the season, throwing for 317 yards and three touchdowns.

Unfortunately for the Boilermakers, the schedule gets much tougher from here.

Wake Forest is coming off a 9-4 campaign in Jake Dickert’s first season as head coach and picked up right where it left off with a 38-16 win over Akron in Week 1. The Demon Deacons led 38-3 in the fourth quarter before allowing two late touchdowns.

UNC transfer Gio Lopez impressed in his Wake Forest debut, throwing for 350 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Ty Clark III provided another explosive element to the offense, rushing for 105 yards on just seven carries.

Let’s take a look at the odds for Purdue vs. Wake Forest at FanDuel Sportsbook as of Sept. 12.

From FOX Sports Research:

Gio Lopez was named a Manning Award Star of the Week after his impressive debut. The Demon Deacons piled up 559 total yards against Akron, the second-most in a game under Jake Dickert, and now face a Purdue defense that allowed the most passing yards in the Big Ten and more than 400 total yards per game last season.

Even in the season opener, Indiana State threw for 218 yards against the Boilermakers. With Lopez already showing he can throw for 300-plus yards and a rushing attack capable of eclipsing 200, Purdue’s defense could be in for a long day in front of the home crowd.

Take Wake Forest to cover the three.
