Here is what to know about the Super Bowl oddsboard:
The Favorites: The Chiefs are back to championship form. They’ve won five of six after starting 0-2. Still, at 5-3, Kansas City is third in the AFC West behind the Broncos and Chargers. In their last five games, the Chiefs have scored 37, 28, 30, 31 and 28. Yes … they are back. A huge matchup at Buffalo is set for Week 9. Game on.
The Defending Champs: The Eagles are 6-2 straight up (SU) and 5-3 against the spread (ATS), and they’ve got back-to-back victories with wins over the Vikings and Giants. Saquon Barkley had his first 100-yard game of the season in Week 8, rushing for 150 yards on 14 carries against the Giants. And, without A.J. Brown, Jalen Hurts threw for four touchdowns in the win. When it comes to winning the Big Game in consecutive years, other than the Chiefs going back-to-back in 2022 and 2023, winning two in a row is a feat seldom accomplished in the Super Bowl era. New England won the Super Bowl in 2003 and 2004. Before that, the Broncos won in 1997 and 1998, and the Cowboys won in 1993 and 1994. The Niners went back-to-back in 1988 and 1989; the Steelers won in 1974 and 1975, and then again in 1978 and 1979. The Dolphins won in 1972 and 1973, and the Packers won in 1966 and 1967.
Ones to Watch: The Colts, at 7-1 SU (6-2 ATS), might be one of the biggest surprises of the season so far. Quarterback Daniel Jones has passed for 2,062 yards on the year, but it’s Jonathan Taylor who’s really been the darling of that offense. In the Colts’ 38-14 win over the Titans in Week 8, Taylor had two rushing TDs and 153 yards on the ground, along with one receiving touchdown. After that dominant performance, Indy moved up the board to +900 from +1100.
