The Knicks ended their 53-year wait for the title on the back of a 45-point game for guard Jalen Brunson, beating French star Victor Wembanyama’s Spurs 94-90.

It was another comeback victory for New York, who dug deep to claw themselves back into the contest after going down double digits.

Speaking after the game, Brunson, who scored 15 points in the fourth quarter, said: “I don’t know what I’m feeling”.

“I’m in awe. I don’t know. Whenever someone counted us out, we found a way to come back and do something about it,” he added.

The Knicks’ victory sparked wild celebrations across New York, as fans took to the streets to mark a first championship since the 1972-73 season.

Video footage posted to social media shows packed-out street parties taking place across the city’s boroughs.

US President Donald Trump also congratulated the team in a post on his Truth Social account.

“What a year it has been but, even more so, what incredible playoff wins we have all witnessed, especially the last four – Maybe the greatest in the history of basketball, ” he wrote.

“Also, tonight, a superstar was born. His name is Jalen Brunson,” he added.
