ensex Today, Nifty 50 | Stock Market Live Updates – Find here all the live updates related to Sensex, Nifty, BSE, NSE, share prices and Indian stock markets for 7 August 2026

Brent crude futures ‌rose for a third consecutive session, climbing above $83 a barrel on concerns over ‌shipping through the Strait of Hormuz after Iran, ‌working with Oman, proposed restrictions on vessels deemed hostile.

Earnings will remain in focus, with State Bank of India, Titan Company, and Hindalco due to report quarterly results later in the day.

Markets ended Thursday’s session on a flat note, with the headline indices masking a sharper story beneath the surface, a nearly 3 per cent surge in defence stocks and a four-session-old structural quirk that is cleaving the Sensex and Nifty apart at close. The Nifty 50 settled at 24,636, up just 11.35 points or 0.05 per cent, after oscillating in a 73-point band through the session. The Sensex, however, closed at 78,954.76, up 0.48 per cent, a gap of roughly 43 basis points between the two benchmarks that has now persisted for four straight sessions since the NSE introduced its Closing Auction Session (CAS) on August 3.

Gold Price Today | Expert Take | Manav Modi Commodities, Analyst, Motilal Oswal Financial services Ltd

Gold prices traded largely unchanged on Friday as investors balanced renewed geopolitical tensions in the Middle East against hopes for a diplomatic resolution, while awaiting the U.S. non-farm payrolls report for fresh clues on the Federal Reserve’s interest rate outlook. Iranian media reported fresh strikes on targets in the Strait of Hormuz and plans to restrict U.S. and Israeli vessels from transiting the strategic waterway, even as negotiations with Oman over reopening shipping lanes reportedly entered their final stages. Additional attacks by Yemen’s Houthi movement on Saudi-backed forces kept geopolitical risks elevated and supported safe-haven demand.

However, concerns that renewed disruptions could push oil prices higher and reignite inflation tempered gains, reinforcing expectations that the Federal Reserve may keep interest rates elevated for longer. Markets currently assign around a 60% probability of a September rate hike, while the U.S. Dollar Index remained stable near the 100 mark, offering limited direction to bullion.

Chinese demand continued to provide underlying support, with gold-backed ETFs recording 14 consecutive sessions of inflows despite softer-than-expected economic growth data, while China’s July trade surplus with the U.S. remained elevated at around $28 billion. Investors will now closely watch the U.S. non-farm payrolls report, which is expected to be the key driver for gold prices in the near term.

Crypto Markets Today LIVE: Expert Take | Nischal Shetty, founder, WazirX

Crypto markets remained stable despite pressure from AI stocks, higher oil prices, bond yields and a stronger US dollar. The limited decline indicated that participation remained steady, even as the environment reduced demand for risk assets.

Hopes of an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz supported sentiment. However, crude oil benchmarks gained more than 1%, showing that concerns around energy supplies have not eased. For crypto, sustained oil price growth could keep inflation and interest-rate expectations elevated, limiting liquidity and momentum.

Regulatory developments in the US remained in focus. The CLARITY Act could establish clearer rules for crypto businesses and investors, supporting institutional participation. However, disagreement over an ethics clause has delayed the bill’s progress. Its approval could become a long-term catalyst, although the immediate market impact remains limited.

Crypto ETF flows remained selective as macro concerns placed pressure on Bitcoin funds. Hyperliquid ETF inflows slowed in July and early August after strong demand in May and June, while cumulative XRP ETF inflows were expected to move beyond $1.51 billion, showing continued interest in regulated digital asset exposure.

Bitcoin trades near $64,214, with its summary indicating Sell as oscillators weaken and moving averages remain mixed. RSI at 51.35 remains neutral. Support sits around $64,035-$64,060, with resistance near $64,355. On the other hand, Ethereum trades near $1,898, with a Neutral summary, Buy-leaning moving averages and an RSI of 54.52. Support lies around $1,885-$1,893, while a break above $1,900 could strengthen momentum.

BTC Futures traders could monitor the $64,035-$64,060 support zone and resistance around $64,355. Holding above support may keep positioning balanced, while a move through resistance could bring changes in open interest and funding rates. For ETH Futures traders, $1,885-$1,893 remains the nearest support area, with $1,900 as resistance. Traders should track volume and liquidation activity before responding to moves outside these levels.”

Stock Markets Today | Expert Take | Gaurav Udani – founder Thincredblu Securities

Nifty is expected to open lower around 24,535, down nearly 100 points, indicating a subdued start after the recent rally.

The index is likely witnessing some profit booking, but the broader trend remains positive as long as key support levels hold. 24,400–24,500 will be the immediate support zone, where buying interest is expected to emerge on declines.

On the upside, 24,700–24,800 remains the key resistance range. A decisive move above this zone could signal a continuation of the ongoing uptrend and pave the way for fresh highs.

The current dip should be viewed with caution rather than panic. As long as Nifty holds above the 24,400 support zone, the preferred strategy remains buy on dips, while traders should avoid aggressive short positions against the prevailing trend.

Tata Sons listing question hinges on RBI’s de-registration call

The Reserve Bank of India’s latest list of Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) in the upper layer for 2026-27 has once again put the spotlight on Tata Sons and a key question: will the holding company eventually have to list, or could it secure regulatory relief? The RBI notification retained Tata Sons in the upper layer category as a core investment company (CIC), while clarifying that its inclusion is “without prejudice” to the outcome of its de-registration application, which is still under examination. The UL comprises NBFCs with an asset size of ₹1 lakh crore or more, warranting enhanced regulatory requirements, stricter governance norms, bank-like supervision and requirement to list publicly within three years. Expert Take | Bitcoin | Prateek Gupta, Head of Business, Mudrex.

Bitcoin is attempting to reclaim the $65,000 level ahead of today’s US jobs report, with the market approaching a critical technical and liquidity zone. The $65,000 mark has emerged as the largest short-liquidation cluster, adding to the volatility. Institutional demand continues to grow strong, with US spot Bitcoin ETFs attracting $626 million in net inflows over the past three trading sessions. Part of these inflows is coming from investors shifting from self-custody to ETFs following the Coldcard wallet security breach. A weekly close above $65,000 could make way toward $70,000, while a close below $63,000 may expose Bitcoin to a deeper correction toward $60,000.

The Nikkei fell 1.17% to 64,911.99 by 0154 GMT, while the broader Topix inched up ‌0.04% to 4,057.47. For the week, the Nikkei has risen 0.8% and ‌the Topix has gained 1.3%

SoftBank Group dropped ‌4.3% on Friday even after the technology investor posted a smaller-than-expected 18% drop in first-quarter profit on Thursday. (Reuters)

Global Markets: Asian shares pause for US jobs, oil extends gains on Mideast risk

Asian shares held their breath on Friday for U.S. ‌jobs data that could prove pivotal for next month’s interest-rate decision by the Federal Reserve, while rising oil prices served as a reminder that Middle East tensions remain far from resolved.

MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan held flat and was down 0.4% for the week. Japan’s Nikkei dropped 0.9% although it was set for a weekly rise of 1.2%.

South Korea’s KOSPI ‌slipped 0.5% and was down 5.0% for the week for a seventh straight week of declines. The index had doubled in the first half of the year, ‌swept up by the blistering demand for AI-linked chip stocks. China’s CSI 300 rose 0.2%.

After ‌bouts of volatility sparked by concerns over the durability of the AI-driven rally, investors are now squarely focused on the U.S. payrolls report due later in the day, which could prove crucial for the interest-rate outlook. Forecasts are centred on a rise of 80,000 jobs for July after a 57,000 gain in June, with the unemployment rate forecast to hold ‌steady at 4.2%.

The stakes are high as markets cannot seem to make up their mind about how the Federal Reserve might move next month, with a rate hike seen as a coin toss. (Reuters)

Stock Market Live: Dollar drifts higher as traders eye Iran talks ahead of US jobs data

The dollar drifted higher against the yen and euro on Friday, building on the previous day’s gains as doubts about an Iran peace deal buffed the U.S. currency’s appeal as a haven.

The greenback also drew support from higher Treasury yields after a Financial Times report citing sources close to ‌Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh pointed to the potential for a September interest rate hike, depending on incoming data.

The monthly U.S. payrolls report, ‌due later on Friday, could provide more clues on the Fed’s rate ‌path.

The dollar rose slightly to 158.505 yen in the Asian morning, after gaining 0.4% on Thursday, putting it on course to rise around 0.7% this week as it recovered from a bout of joint Japan-U.S. intervention that sent the U.S. currency tumbling from near a four-decade high above 163 yen on ‌Thursday to a 13-week low of 155.20 on Monday. Crude Oil Prices Today LIVE: Oil rises on concerns over Strait of Hormuz reopening plans

Oil continued its rise on Friday amid further concerns around the opening of the Strait of Hormuz as Iran, working with Oman, suggested banning ‌vessels deemed hostile from the strait and heavily fining those who violated the proposed rules.

Brent crude futures rose 99 cents, or 1.2%, to $83.48 a barrel by 0010 GMT. U.S. West Texas Intermediate futures rose 85 cents, or ‌1.1%, to $78.84. Oil futures settled up at over $3 a barrel on Thursday as Iran reviewed a bill ‌to ban U.S. and Israeli vessels from the ‌Strait of Hormuz where roughly a fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas transmitted before the war began at the end of February. Prices fell earlier in the week as a possible solution to the ongoing conflict ‌looked more likely but benchmark Brent breached $80 on Thursday after falling below that for the first time since July 13. Stock Market Live: Bulls hold ground as D-Street stays cautious; defence stocks fire up

Market observers say the divergence reflects differences in institutional order flow and auction-window liquidity between the two index baskets, rather than any fundamental disconnect. Most analysts expect the distortion to narrow as participants recalibrate. Read more here
